Mountain Bike Horns
Bike Horns are for Fun and Safety
Your kids need to be safe at all times when they are out and about
on their mountain bikes, there are all sorts of safety
devices designed to keep you kid safe while riding their bike. Horns are one of the best ways to alert other people
that there is a cyclist in the area. In many cases people who are driving along in their car are not paying that
much attention to what is going on around them. For the kid on the bike to be able to make a loud noise to
let them know they are there can mean the difference between a nasty accident and a safe ride.
When kids are really young they love the sounds that bicycle
bells, horns and other noisy devices make, much to the chagrin of the parent who put it on the bike in the first
place. Most kids have a bell on their tricycle as they go zooming along the
sidewalk or out in the driveway, it can be a great way for mum and dad to know where their kids are without having
to run behind them wherever they go. As they grow up the idea of having a bell on their bike just seems to grow
with them.
In many countries a bell is used on trails to let those who are
walking know that there is someone coming up behind them on a bicycle. This way if there is not enough room for the
cyclist to pass without hitting them they can move over a little to share the trail. However you should take care
to learn the proper etiquette in the country you are riding in since in some countries it is only used when there
is no room to pass by rather than as simple warning that you are coming up from behind.
While a bell is perfect for riding on the trails or around the
quiet neighborhood that you live in once your child gets old enough to get out into traffic and ride amongst the
cars and trucks he is going to need something a little louder, such as a horn.
There are several different styles of bike horn available from the
old fashioned squeeze bulb type to electric bike horns. Loud is very important for the cyclist who has to ride in
traffic and perhaps one of the loudest on the market is the air horn.
Bike air horns are made to be very loud, they are loud enough to
make sure that anyone in a car knows that your child is there. These simple devices consist of source of air such
as a pressurized canister or refillable canister that can be refilled with the same pump that you use to fill your
bike's tires.
Most of them have a horn that mounts on the handlebars with a
button on top. When the button is pressed the horn emits a 115 decibel sound that alerts everyone in the area to
your child's presence.
No matter where your child rides his bike, you should always make
sure that they have the appropriate safety
gear and that includes bike horns or bells to let people know where they are to avoid unnecessary accidents and
make sure that your child always arrives home safely.
