While there are many places to go on holiday throughout the country many of the most popular places are arrived at by car and then turn out to be big tourist attractions that cost plenty of money and leave you feeling a little overwhelmed by the end of your stay. Taking a biking holiday does not have to be expensive all you need is your bike, a place to stay and your meals.

Imagine taking you and your family on a nice self paced bike ride through the wooded trails in the forests of England. Here you will find miles of beautiful mountain bike trails that were built with every skill level in mind. Along the way you can take the time to thoroughly enjoy an area of the country that you cannot see any other way. Time moves much more slowly when you are on mountain bike riding holidays, you can always stop and look at the scenery and share it with your family without damaging any of it along the way.

For many people singletrack mountain bike riding is the only way to go, while being in a group can be a lot of fun there is nothing quite like the peace and quiet that comes with taking a long ride down a long narrow track that leads off into the distance. It offers a chance to enjoy the solitude and reflect on the natural beauty of the area you are riding in. Of all the different styles of mountain bike riding, singletrack usually offer s the most challenging and are rapidly becoming the most popular among the mountain biking enthusiasts.

Mountain bike riding is becoming so popular that many local Councils along with the Forestry Commission are building new trails through their areas to attract a new breed of tourist. Taking off on mountain biking holidays is fast becoming the most popular way for those who are environmentally conscious to enjoy the great outdoors and leave it the same way that they found it.

Many of the mountain bike trails that are in use today have long been in use for both hikers and horseback riders, while others were purposely built just for cyclists. Just because you are riding a mountain bike does not mean that you have to go racing down the side of the mountain at break neck speed. For many riders, this is what mountain biking is all about. The thrill of flying down narrow trails across the jump and around twisting turning curves that challenge every muscle in your body before you get to the bottom is very exciting.

Not all trails are created alike and many of the trails being built today are done so with the casual rider in mind. In the last few years more people are taking their holidays mountain biking and with this more of the trails are being made wider with places to stop and have a picnic while enjoying the view.  Great Britain is not the only area to realize the potential of these types of holidays, all over Europe more trails are being opened just for this type of tourism. People today are finding that these types of holidays help them to reconnect with their families while enjoying a very healthy pastime.
